Library Usability Links 1/16/09
- Smashing Magazine has a comprehensive article on Mobile Web Design with discussion, pointers, and screen shots of good design. This chart on screen sizes caught my eye:
- Jared Spool has an interesting case study on a usability project that discovered the existence of a $300 million button.
- Here’s another mouse tracker, which makes use of javascript on your page to track user behavior, called userfly.
- Swype is a fascinatingly usable interface for mobile devices. Check out the video.
- Mashable.com has a good overview of what Usability is not. I especially like number eight, which is a crucial point for smaller libraries.
- On the flipside, Library WebHead points to the Darien Library which has its own UX Department.
- In the UK, one group of library administrators want to rebrand their librarians as “Audience Development Officers“, which I doubt is a user-centered label.
